HOKA Clifton 8

⭐️⭐️

I have been in the market for a new everyday road running shoe, since both my Carbon X2 and Mach 4’s are completely mile’d out and I feel the effects of the mileage on the soles when I run (strained arches). I recently tested out the HOKA Clifton 8 road running shoe and I was disappointed in the fit and the shock absorption. I took it out for a quick 3 mile jog in the neighborhood, to see how it compared to my go-to favorite, the HOKA Mach 4. The Clifton 8 is heavily cushioned but almost replicated the feeling of running in sand, where my toes would sink into the cushion. I felt like I was constantly having for push off the forefoot and extend my toes, overworking my calf muscles. My knees and shins definitely felt this run the next day, probably a result of straining pressure on my lower leg. I’m curious to see the difference when running on a treadmill vs. pavement but my lack of a gym membership will prevent me from doing so in the meantime. The fit itself was a bit snug around the toe box, so I should have opted for the Wide Fit sizing, which HOKA offers in this shoe model. As much as I wanted to love this shoe, I trust the Mach 4 with my life, and therefore will be exchanging my Clifton’s for a fresh pair of Mach’s.
